Bettane & Desseauve 2010

2010 France’s wines Great Guide

Philippe Gilbert is a winemaker of integrity. For the last few years, he has worked the vineyard in the most natural way possible, with a talented technical manager : Jean-Philippe Louis. His methods reflect on the production with the last three vintages being of an exemplary hold. The whites have increased in minerality and maturity, the reds in intensity and aromatic pureness.
Since 1999, the old vines have been developed to obtain the cuvee Les Renardières that produces fatter whites with a beautiful edge and reds with a more complex material.
Here comes a domain that leans towards the top of the appellation.
The 2008 vintage confirms the hopes pinned on this domain that has improved again.

  • Menetou-Salon White 2008 An elegant bouquet marked by overtones of citrus. A sharp attack in the mouth and a persistent finish combining both tightness and ripe fruitiness 15.5/20

  • Menetou-Salon 2008 Red Marked by black cherry overtones, this 2008 vintage is already a gourmet wine. Its supple and fruity tannins are of excellent length in the mouth and delightfully crunchy. 15/20
