Le Grand Guide des Vins de France 2009 Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine Philippe Gilbert - Menetou-Salon

Philippe Gilbert is a winemaker of integrity. For the last few years, he has worked the vineyard in the most natural way possible, which the quality of his wines echoes, notably the 2006 vintage with an exemplary hold. The whites have increased in minerality and maturity, the reds in intensity and aromatic pureness.
Since 1999, the old vines have been developed to obtain the cuvée Les Renardières, producing fatter whites with a beautiful edge and reds with a more complex material.
Here comes a domain that leans towards the top of the appellation.

  • Menetou-Salon Red 2007 14.5/20

Tannins on top of red fruits and spices are well-matured, with a beautiful freshness.

  • Menetou-Salon White 2007 15/20
