The Menetou-Salon AOC appellation
Located in the centre of France, the Menetou-Salon vines produce rare and flavoursome wines. The domaine’s quality standards are recognised among the most demanding of the Loire region.
A neighbour of Sancerre, the Menetou-Salon AOC appellation covers a modest 1,160 acres in an area north of Bourges.
The Menetou-Salon AOC appellation is exclusively planted with pinot noir for red and rosé wines and sauvignon for white wines.
A bit of history…
The implementation of the vineyard and making it sustainable isn’t done by accident.
Vineyards have existed since the 11th century and were at the time the property of a lord descending from Viking conquerors, Sir Sarlon. Monks were responsible for growing the vines.
This remote origin is recognisable in the name given to the inhabitants of the village: the monestro-saloniens.
