It is a family business, but it is first and foremost a business of people: the Domaine Philippe Gilbert asserts and emphasizes the small-scale postulate of its production.
Man’s hand and his know-how are at the heart of our profession. Picking time is the high point of the year, with 60 or so people on the site for nearly three weeks. This human energy then accompanies us the rest of the time, in a more minor mode,, for pruning, removing shoots, bending the vine shoots, replacing and maintaining the vineyard, working on greenery, etc., and of course, work on the wine, in the wine cellar, right up to bottling, and the final gesture of waxing certain bottles.
